Irene Marie Motrie, age 83 of Cornelius, North Carolina formerly of Saugerties, New York and Shokan, New York born February 24, 1935 died June 9, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Robert Motrie, her mother Marie D. Price, father William K. Price, her brother William F. Price and baby sister Marion Price.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Lee Motrie Motrie of Cornelius, North Carolina and her son Robert Kyle Motrie of Cornelius, North Carolina.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC.
The family will receive friends 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway Kingston, New York.
Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston Street Kingston, New York.
Interment will follow at Montrepose Cemetery.
Irene retired at age 72 from the Astor Home for Children Rhinebeck, New York where she was a Protesant Chaplain. After graduating business school she owned her own flower shop The Orchid Shop in Kingston, New York. She attended Immanuel Day School and Kingston High School. Irene graduated from SUNY Stone Ridge, New York in 1990 on the dean’s list. She served for many groups including: National Chaplains Associate for Youth at Risk as President; Archdiocese of New York/Chaplain and Ministry group for Residential facilities and Foster Homes; on the Bennet School PTA; on the BOCES Board of Education; on the Onteora Central School Board of Education; on the Town of Olive Planning Board; and she was the Brownie leader and Den mother for girl/boy scouts. She moved to East Amherst, New York in 2011 to be by her daughter. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Amherst. She was the Lay Pastor for Carillon Assisted Living in Huntersville, North Carolina. Irene attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mooresville, North Carolina where she has been active in many groups. She was a former member of the Community in Christ Lutheran Church where she also served as lay pastor. Her great grandmother was a charter member of her home Church Immanuel Lutheran in Kingston, New York. She has been a Church organist mostly all of her life since childhood. She still enjoyed floral arranging for Churches and for special occasions.
