Irene “Renie” Howard, of Cornelius, NC, passed away at home on August 9, 2021. Renie was born in Madison, NJ on January 3, 1936 to the late John and Mary Dunne. She and her late husband, Martin “Skip” Howard were married in 1957 in St. Petersburg, FL and lived in Seminole, FL until 2006. They relocated to Cornelius, NC in 2006 to be close to their only child, Jill, her husband Mark, and their precious grandchildren, Reilly and Reagan.
Renie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, showing her fierce love for her family and friends through endless acts of kindness. She will be remembered for her thoughtful, welcoming and gracious ways, her elegance, and making such an impact on those who were lucky enough to know her.
Renie is predeceased by her husband Martin “Skip” Howard and sister Margaret “Peg” Brannin. She is survived by her daughter, Jill McDowell (and son-in-law Mark), grandson, Reilly McDowell, and granddaughter, Reagan McDowell, all of Cornelius, NC, her brother, John Dunne of Madison, NJ, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday August 15, 2021 from 5 -7 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. A funeral service will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC. Following the service, Renie will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org.
