Mrs. Hope "Hopie" Peterson Bell, 88, a long time resident of Davidson, NC died Friday May 4, 2012 at Levine Dickson Hospice Center of Huntersville, NC. She was the wife of the late James Locke Bell of Davidson and daughter of the late Martin Peterson and Helen Peterson. Born in Alexandria, VA February 26, 1924, she was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC Class of 1942 and Coker College in Hartsville, SC. Hope was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she loved her Sunday School class, the Maloney Class and the Children's choir. Her life can be characterized by her devotion to her family and church, her many friends in Davidson, her constant gift of caring and her great sense of humor. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Lina Bell Soares; granddaughter, Carolina Lacy Soares and grandson, Forrest Peterson Soares of Statesboro, GA. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 16 in the Lingle Chapel of Davidson College Presbyterian Church with Reverend Lib McGregor Simmons officiating. A private interment at Mimosa Cemetery will precede the Memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davidson College Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 337, Davidson, NC 28036.
