Herman A. Jarrell, Sr.

Herman Arnold Jarrell, Sr., 93, of Huntersville, NC died Monday June 23, 2014 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Herman was born December 29, 1920 in Salisbury, NC to the late Archibald Leroy and Ora Mae Leach Jarrell. Herman graduated from Catawba College and earned his PhD. in Physics from UNC Chapel Hill. He taught at Clemson University for four years and then worked for Bell Laboratories until he retired. Herman leaves to cherish his memory; wife of 64 years, Jean Carter Jarrell; daughters, Nancy Jarrell and husband Ed Smail, Phyllis Pike; sons, Arnold Jarrell and wife Jackie, Richard Jarrell and wife Yvonne Robbins; brother, James Jarrell; sister Mary Harrison; seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC, on Thursday June 26, 2014 at 1:30 pm. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House 11900 Vanstory Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078.
