Helen Mitchell

Helen Poplin Mitchell, 82, of Huntersville, NC passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011. Helen was born on November 19, 1929 in Albemarle, NC to the late Donnie and Luther Odell Poplin. Helen retired from Southern Bell after 30 years service. She was an avid golfer at Pine Island Country Club in Charlotte, NC and in her later years enjoyed calling bingo and working with seniors. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Mitchell, sister Hazel Huffstetler, and brother Bob Poplin. Helen is survived by her sons Erick Smith and his wife Nancy of Prattville, AL, Stephen Smith and his wife Deborah of Huntersville, NC and daughter Debbie Lovvorn and her husband Jeff of Terrell, NC, 10 grandchildren, Ashley and Angie Smith of Prattville, AL, Jason and Mandy Smith of Trussville, AL, Elizabeth and Aaron Rampey of Concord, NC, Taylor and Joshua Smith of Huntersville, NC and Chris and Heather Lovvorn, of Charlotte, NC and 12 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday October 25, 2011 at 11:00am at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home Chapel.
