Harry Albert Saake III, 81, of Cornelius, NC passed away on Saturday, August 17th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Harry was born on August 4th, 1943 on Long Island, New York to the late Eloise Saake. Harry remained a proud New Yorker all his days.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Belinda Saake; son, Will Saake (Mandy); daughter, Angelina Saake; son, Angelo Saake (Summer); and daughter Christina Kiser (Zack), grandchildren, Hayleigh, Mariah, Aida, Athrun, Abel, Caleb, Finley and an eighth grandchild due in November.
Harry loved his beautiful wife, Belinda, more than words could ever express. The two spent every Sunday together going on day trips to the mountains, antiquing and enjoying life together. Harry was so incredibly proud of the family he and Belinda built together. His children brought him an amount of pride and joy that is immeasurable. Harry was a grandpa to seven. He loved his grandchildren so much. They made him laugh and smile in a way that only grandchildren can. He was so excited to welcome his eighth grandchild in November.
When not with family, Harry enjoyed working as an Optician at a local eye care company. Harry was an Optician for 61 years. He had an immense passion for his profession and was an incredibly hard worker. He shared with his daughter that the best part of his job was helping little children clearly see the world for the first time.
Beyond family and work, Harry always found time to volunteer in his beloved town of Cornelius. He enjoyed working on numerous projects including having a monument erected in front of the local fire station in honor of 9/11 which he was so proud and honored to be a part of. He also dedicated numerous hours to his beautiful gardens that he lovingly referred to as Saakewald. Harry would often wind down the day by taking Belinda to try a new restaurant as he had a passion for good food followed up with spending time with his beloved pets, Hans, Bentley, Luna and Scotus who will miss him so much.
Harry was a character, one in a million with a zest for life like no other and a sense of humor that was always going to get a laugh. His family and friends are going to miss him so much and will forever cherish and honor his memory.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. The family will receive family and friends to celebrate Harry’s beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, SC.
