Gwendolyn Naumann Callan

August 5, 1922 — April 5, 2012

Gwendolyn M. Callan lived a wonderful 89 years and was married for 65 years to Ellsworth Callan. We can say she had a blessed life from Pennsylvania to New York to Charlotte, Mooresville and Huntersville NC. Mom was instrumental in raising her two children Dale Callan and Diane Fitzgerald. She loved her daughter-in-law Sharon and son-in-law Tony and her four grandchildren Laurie, Jennifer, Kelly and Laura. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth Callan and her brother Charles Naumann. She enjoyed cooking, reading and travel and just being with her loving husband Ellsworth all these years. She was a real trooper when it came to her battles with rheumatoid arthritis, never complaining and always persevering which set an example for all of us. We should remember her welcoming smile, her ability to make everyone feel at home in her house and her gracious ability to put others before herself which is what Jesus taught us to do. We thank you Mom for that love and kindness you gave to us all. We thank you for that undying love for Dad all these years. We will remember you for your love of yellow flowers, for your smile and your steadfast ability to be fair, kind and considerate. Gwen was a graduate of Concordia College, Bronxville, New York. She worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company in the accounting department for 20 years. She lived in Hicksville and East Northport, Long Island, New York before moving to North Carolina.
