Grace Ledford Cherry Hipp, 87, of Denver, NC died Monday, September 8, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born January 13, 1927 in Bryson City, NC she was the daughter of the late Hobert J. Ledford and Ollie Wright Ledford. She was a member of the Paw Creek High School Class of 1945. She was a previous employee of BASF Corporation and Rath Packing Company and a member of Unity Presbyterian Church. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and friends and she was known to many as "Me-Maw". A celebration of her life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 11, 2014 at Unity Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carol Clark officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC. She leaves to cherish her memory her Children by Birth: James Cherry, Jr. and wife Kathy of Denver , NC and Jackie Cherry of Sherrills Ford, NC; grandchildren, Kelley Cherry Sink and husband Brandon of Denver, NC and Kimberly Cherry Beck and husband Alan of Sylva, NC; great grandchildren, Karsyn Grace Sink, Presley Lane Sink and Easton James Beck;brother, Homer T Ledford and wife Lou of Charlotte, NC; Children by Heart: Vickie Lackey and husband Jerry of Lincolnton, NC, Ken Hipp and wife Ann of Honolulu, HI, Lee Hipp and wife Roberta of Salem, VA, Kathy Smith of Charlotte, NC, Budd Hipp and wife Martha of Raleigh, NC and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Cherry and J.B. Hipp. The family is especially grateful to Dr. John Sensenbrenner and his staff and Lincoln County Hospice for their loving care.
