Geraldine “Geri” Ann Greger, 55, of Cornelius, NC passed away July 13, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. Geri was born July 11, 1962 to parents Michael and Phyllis Burge of Indiana. Along with her parents she is survived by: fiancé’ , Chuck Hagerty; sons, Ted Greger and Max Greger; sister, Michelle Brown of Wilmington; brother, Mike Burge, Jr. and wife Patti of Charlotte; nieces, Bailey Burge and Kobi Brown; nephew Hunter Brown.
Geraldine attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Griffith High School and received her B.S. at St. Mary’s of Notre Dame College. She studied at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago where she received her certification in Cytotechnology. Geri worked for Michael Reese full time while also working at a pharmacy. While living in Roanoke, VA she worked as a pharmaceutical rep for Meade-Johnson. She continued her work with SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories for 15 years. Geri moved to the Charlotte area, and worked for CMC in the pathology dept. as a manager for the Cytology department for the past 18 years.
Geri was a generous and giving person. She was always considerate to others. Geri participated in soup kitchens helping to provide needs to those less fortunate. She was an outstanding athlete. While in high school she was in gymnastics, swimming, and softball, while maintaining a straight A average in school studies. She was a cheerleader from 6th grade until her senior year in high school. She was nominated homecoming queen and president of her senior class. Geri graduated in the top 10 in her class.
Geri played semi-pro softball for Notre Dame. She continued in life to keep family together, her sons and family were everything to her. Her friends were never excluded , she loved them all like family.
She was an avid sports enthusiast for Notre Dame, Chicago Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Black Hawks. When living in NC the Panther's were added. She wore a sports shirt with the name of the team she was watching, even changed if one of her other teams played. Her favorite movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” depicts her greatly.
A celebration of Geri’s life will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
