Georgia Ann Baker, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of December 24, 2020. Georgia was born in Globe, North Carolina to the late George and Clara Wingate. Along with her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Reverend Wm. Neal Baker; her two sons, Stephen Neal Baker and David Alan Baker; a sister and a brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann Baker and her wife Lora Josey; granddaughter, Katelyn Land and husband Jon.
She loved her church family and considered Pastor Johnny Houser her “adopted son”.
Georgia was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse most of her life. She was also employed by Blum, Inc for several years.
Georgia lived a life of service. She was at her happiest when helping others. She taught Sunday School for 66 years andgenerations of children have been blessed to callher “Grandma Georgia”. She had the most loving and generous heart and loved her family unconditionally. She also had a wicked sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Georgia was an accomplished artist who loved to draw landscapes and cartoons. She was a gifted poet and over the years had several of her poems published.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. Pastor Johnny Houser will be officiating. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory.
