Genevieve M. Suchy (Gen) of Davidson, NC and Hilton Head Island, SC passed peacefully on December 1, 2022. She was 57. Those who know Gen are familiar with her love of family and friends and her boundless energy. She was a shining star who touched the lives of so many.
Born on April 16, 1965, in Newburgh, NY to Frank and Elizabeth Minutolo, the second of six children. A 1983 graduate of Wallkill High School, she was active on the cheerleading team for all sports. Gen graduated with a bachelor’s degree from SUNY-New Paltz in 1987.
Early into her professional career, Gen started with TIAA in New York in 1988. In 2000, she moved with her family to North Carolina to help TIAA open the Charlotte office, which grew exponentially over the years. Taking on a variety of roles, she worked in everything from phone-center operations, to corporate events, marketing, and business leadership roles. After 30+ years at TIAA, she took a retirement package in 2020 to pursue a new venture. Gen began her second career as a realtor with the Allen Tate office in Davidson, NC selling real estate and sharing her love of the Davidson area with others. A friendly face on Main Street in Davidson, Gen always had a radiant smile and treats for anyone (or dog) who passed by.
Gen and her family were members of River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC, for almost 20 years. More recently, they became members of the Port Royal community in Hilton Head where she enjoyed golfing with her group of friends and walking with her husband and dog on the beach. She liked practicing yoga and pilates, which she said helped clear her head.
The most selfless woman, Gen went out of her way to support her loved ones and thrived being around others. She always opened her home to host everything from lively holiday parties to intimate gatherings with friends. She constantly checked in on her family and friends either through text or by catching up over dinner. She spoiled her daughter and dog whenever she could. Even when they weren’t together, she called her husband every night to talk about their days and to say, "I love you.” She took on responsibilities even when she didn’t need to if it meant it would make others happier.
Gen especially loved dry red wines and consistently had cheese in the fridge to snack on. In her free time, she enjoyed reading murder mysteries, watching rom-coms and HGTV, and treating herself by having her nails done and getting massages. There was always a scented candle burning when she was home and she liked shopping whenever there was a good deal. A favorite activity of hers was decorating her homes as she had a keen eye for design. She was exceptionally driven and had a fun creative spirit that shined through in everything she did.
Gen is survived by her husband, Guy; daughter, Niki; “fur son” dog Colby; father, Frank Minutolo; brother, Michael Minutolo (René); sisters Anne Minutolo, Carolyn Henry, Kathleen Skelly (Todd), and Mary DeCoeur; nieces and nephews, Michelle Joyce (Ryan), Mark Suchy, Erika Frazier (Josh), Brian Minutolo, Becca and Zach Henry, Anthony and Chris Skelly, and Marcus, Brent, and Cooper DeCoeur; and great-niece Harper Frazier.
Preceding her in death are her mother, Elizabeth Minutolo, and fur baby Sam.
