Genevieve (Jean) Manganiello, age 93 passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2019.
Jean was born on June 13, 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Michele and Vincenzina Marrone, first-generation Italian Americans. Jean was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Anthony (Tony) T. Manganiello as well asher daughter Mary. She was also proceeded in death by brothers, Emilio, Pasquale, Charles, Dominic, Michael and sister Elizabeth Boldt.
Jean was employed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency where she worked as an administrative assistant until her retirement.
Jean lived most of her life in New Jersey. Jean and Tony spent their retirement living half a year in New Jersey and the other half in Florida where they enjoyed bocce ball, shuffleboard, entertainment, dancing, crafting, swimming, and bowling. They moved to North Carolina in 2006 to be near her children and grandchildren.
The joy of Jean’s life was her husband Tony who she referred to as her “sweetheart”. Jean graciously took care of him until his passing in 2013. Jean also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking Italian, playing scrabble, but most of all telling stories to her grandchildren in her later years.Jean continued to celebrate and support her children and grandchildren and was a source of strength for all of them.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters Linda Green(husband Michael), and Betty Manganiello, her grandchildren, Jaclyn, Genni, Robert, Anthony (Bonnie), Tara (husband Matt), Jonathan (Julie), Kimberlie (husband Charles), and great grand-children Frances, Andrew, Zachary and Henry. She is also survived by her sister Connie (husband Bill).
The family expresses its sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Novant Health Hospice as well as her caregivers, Anita Suttles and Patty Borza who so lovingly cared for her during her final weeks.
Visitation of friends and family will be held on Friday, October 18 from 5:00-8:00pm and Saturday, October 19 from 10:00-11:00am prior to the celebration of life at the chapel at 11:00am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, North Carolina.
