Heaven has added another loved one among its ranks. On January 11, 2016 our beloved Gene Shipman departed this life after a hard fight and lengthy battle with his illness.
Gene was born on December 23, 1942 in Whitesville, NC. He spent his early years in New Jersey and graduated from Newark Central High School. He loved to stay in shape and even succeeded doing some high level amateur boxing. He met and married Carolyn (Porter) Shipman in New Jersey in 1963. Gene was also proud of the fact that he was never without being employed during his adult life in New Jersey, where he worked for Reliable Jappining and then retiring from Monsanto. Gene and his family moved to Huntersville, North Carolina in 2014 where he loved to spend his time with his family, working out at the gym and keeping his home in tip top shape both inside and out.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Ulysses and Frances Shipman and brother David (Ruth). Gene also leaves precious memories to his three children, David (Simha) of New York, Brian and Denise of Charlotte, North Carolina; four brothers, Wesley, Allen (Ella) of Clarkton NC; Amir Bdul-Gham (Radia) of Vauxhall, New Jersey and Douglas Bolton (Dorothy) of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister Denise Shipman of Raleigh, North Carolina;grandson, James Shipman; and four grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and many, many friends.
