Garry Jones

Garry Herbert Jones, 70, of Huntersville, NC passed away on September 26, 2018 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House. He was born in Ithaca, NY on December 8, 1947 to the late James and Emily Jones.

Along with his parents, Garry is preceded in death by his brother, James Russell Jones. He is survived by his loving wife Marie of 46 years; daughter Roxanne Palermo (Joe); son Eric Jones (Alexis); grandchildren Sophia, Luca, Cali, and Harper; sisters Dawn Jones (Bill), Barbara Salatino, and Ruthann Knapp (David); brothers Timothy Jones (Patricia), Richard Jones (Joanne), and Bruce Jones; sisters-in-law, Raffaelina D’Ambrogio, Rina Agosto (Antonio), Ida Puma (Joe); brother-in-law Sal Aiello; and several nieces and nephews.

Garry was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a helicopter crew chief at Sikorsky Aircraft for thirty-three years, and he belonged to the VFW Post# 7788 in Milford, Connecticut. Garry was an avid NY Giants fan and fisherman. He loved to go to Black Lake in NY with his buddies, and he would also take an annual fishing trip with his son, Eric, to New Hampshire.

Garry retired in North Carolina from Connecticut to be close to his family. He enjoyed annual beach trips to Emerald Isle with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. He loved spending time with the little ones and his siblings. For their 40th wedding anniversary, Garry and Marie went on an amazing Alaskan vacation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House located in Huntersville or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home located at 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 11:00AM located at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Northlake Memorial Gardens located at 11001 Alexandriana Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.
