Garrett L. Barnes, 85, of Huntersville, NC passed away on January 1, 2022.
Garrett was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 15, 1936, to the late Jessie B. Barnes (Brown) and Lacy M. Barnes.
Along with his parents, he is proceeded in death by his sisters, Flora Hutchins (Barnes), Louella Barnes, and his brother Jimmy Barnes, who passed away as an infant.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Lee Barnes; his two sons, Timothy Duane Barnes, and Andrew Lacy Barnes and his wife JoAnn M. Barnes; his grandchildren, Duane Burke, Timothy D. Barnes Jr. and his wife Tynesha, Justin Rutherford, Ajah Guice, Micah C. Barnes and his wife Heather, Philemon G. Barnes and his wife Antaria, Magdalen I. Barnes, Brinson L Barnes, Jada-Renea N. Barnes; his great-grandchildren, Timothy D. Barnes III, Tiana Barnes, Lido Guice, and Ezekiel; great-great-grandchildren Eliana, Tian; and a host of relatives, friends, and church family.
Garrett owned a small business named Auto Brake Clinic located on Central Parkway in Cincinnati. He worked diligently to build this business within the busiest thoroughfares in the city. Garrett was always warm and considerate to his customers. He loved his work as a mechanic and took pride in satisfying each patron. In addition to his work at Auto Brake Clinic, he was mentored by David Christmon, Minister of the Church of Christ located at 856 Beecher Street. Garrett served as a Preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for several years in the Walnut Hills community.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at 4595 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC.
A memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm in the main sanctuary.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Concord Church of Christ.
