Mrs. Frances Cox Phillips, 85, of Charlotte, NC died Monday December 22, 2014 at Novant Health Charlotte. Born July 23, 1929 in Hemmingway, SC she was one of the twelve children of the late William Shell Cox and Emma Floyd Cox. Prior to her retirement, she was the secretary for the family business, Wade Hampton Phillips and Associates. She was taught to play golf by her husband, Wade and became a champion golfer at Pine Lake Country Club. She made herself a rarity by getting not one but two hole in ones in her lifetime. She was the 10th child out of 12 and was lovingly referred to as # 10 by a staff member of Wilora Lake who was also a # 10. She lived at Wilora Lake Lodge for many years before moving to the Cove last year. Everyone there was like a second family to her and loved her dearly. A celebration of her life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday December 27, 2014 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Wade Phillips and wife Elena; Jane Keesler and husband Scott; grandchildren, Sam Keesler and wife Hope, Will Keesler, Victor Neimeyer and wife Jennifer and great grandson Thomas Alan Neimeyer, Dylan Phillips, Sydney Phillips; brothers, Randolph Cox, David Cox and wife Doris and sister, Joretta Sutton.
