Frances Elizabeth Barnette Beard, of Huntersville, NC, age 78, died peacefully at The Brian Center in Winston-Salem, NC, on June 16, 2011. Frances was born on December 8, 1932, to the late Samuel Jones Barnette and Norma Jane Gilbert Barnette, of Huntersville, NC, and lived most of her life in the Huntersville area. After working for 30 years, Mrs. Beard retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as the Food Services Manager at North Mecklenburg High School. Her wonderful cooking creations delighted many! She also enjoyed traveling with Grady to the Members of Muroc Veterans of World War II reunions and she was member of Huntersville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her husband, Grady McKnight Beard, and her brother, Carl Barnette. Her loving family includes one son, Grady Alan Beard, and wife, Belinda, of Winston-Salem, NC; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher Beard, Amanda Dickens and Kelly Brett, and five great grandchildren; her sister, Faye Hubbard, her brother, Marshall Barnette, and wife, Dee Ann, her sister-in-law, Margaret Barnette, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beards life will be celebrated in the Chapel at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville, at 1:30 pm, on Saturday, June 18th, with The Reverend Michael Goode officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
