Florence Fields Greene

Mrs. Florence Flo Fields Greene, 74, of Stanley NC died Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born June 20, 1936 in Dunkirk, NY she was a daughter of the late Dennis Charles Fields and Loretta Agnes Carrus Fields. She received her BS and MS degrees from State University of New York at Fredonia and began her 47 year career in education. During her years in the New York School Systems and Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, she held positions as a Teacher, Reading Specialist, Curriculum Specialist, Literacy Facilitator, Observation Expert, Assistant Principal and Principal. Mrs. Greene loved to read, play golf and travel to visit friends and family. She was a loving, caring individual who put everyone before herself. She will be greatly missed by everyone having the privilege to have known her. Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 18 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lesley Moore and husband Jamie of Huntersville; sons, Matthew DeCeilio and wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, Wade Greene of Stanley, Charlie Greene Jr and wife Kathleen of Fredonia NY; the loves of life, grandchildren, Carlie, Julia, Lacey, Jacquelyn, Nathan, Brittany, Abigail, Kaitlin and Kelsey; sister, Mary Ellen Briggs and brother, Wayne Fields of Fredonia NY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Greene, Sr.; daughter, Mary Ann Straight; sisters, Diana Chrabasz, Zelda Allenza; brothers, Dennis Fields Jr. and Joseph Fields. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Greenes memory to the donors choice.
