Faye Pope Willoughby

Faye Willoughby, 71, went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2022, peacefully surrounded at home, by her family after a short battle with cancer.

Faye Willoughby was born on August 11, 1951 in Charlotte, NC, to Oscar Logan Pope and Dora Mae Fincher Pope.

Faye started her career as a weaver for Scandura and loved working there for 16 years. Faye was a devoted home maker to her family and served as a pastors wife for 47 years.

Faye married Horace Willoughby, Sr. on November 23, 1966 in York, SC. The couple were blessed to have shared 56 wonderful years together.

Faye loved vacationing at the beach or what she called her "happy place". She enjoyed gardening, making crafts and decorating for every holiday. Most of all, she loved serving God and others, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will forever be "Maw-Maw".

Faye is survived by her loving husband Horace Willoughby, Sr. of Concord, NC; son, Horace Willoughby Jr. (Sassie) of Albemarle, NC; her daughters, Angela Eaves (Joe) of Locust, NC, Sherri Pincay (Chris) of Charlotte, NC and Natalie Sailers (Adam) of Davidson, NC; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grand children; brothers Arnold Pope (Jerry) of Pineville, NC, Billy Pope (Gail) of Bessimer City, NC and sister Carolyn Castor (Jimmy) of Concord, NC. She was also blessed with several neices and nephews and their children as well as many loving friends.

Faye is preceded in death by several loving family members and friends, whom she loved and missed dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Raymer Kepner Funeral Service in Huntersville, NC. A celebration of life will follow at 11am in the chapel. Graveside and burial will follow immediately afterwards at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Charlotte, NC, at approximately 12:30pm.

Memorial donations can be made in Faye's name to Atrium Health Palliative and Hospice of Cabarrus for their wonderful care. The family will also receive flowers if you wish.
