With a Masters degree in Accounting, she had a sharp intellect that she often applied to her professional endeavors, but it was her deep love for her family that defined her true legacy.
Fawkia's heart belonged to her husband, Ahmed Fadel Mekky, with whom she shared an extraordinary 60 years of marriage. Together, they crafted a life filled with love and laughter, raising three wonderful daughters—Hala Shoukry (married to Mohamed), Maggie Metwalli (married to Sharif), and Deana Deep (married to Michael). Fawkia delighted in her role as a mother, dedicating herself utterly to her daughters and nurturing them with unwavering support. She took immense pride in her family, relishing every moment spent with her six beloved grandchildren: Dahlia, Jena, Tamer, Yasmine, Joseph, and Amelia.
Fawkia was known for her vibrant personality, marked by her sense of humor. She had a knack for making jokes, often laughing along even if her humor was more heartfelt than hilarious. Her home, filled with warmth and laughter, was a gathering place for family. She loved cooking, often seen in the kitchen preparing delicious meals and delighting in sweet treats that brought everyone together. Watching football was another cherished pastime, and she remained a dedicated supporter of the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers, always cheering them on with her family.
In addition to her devotion to her loved ones, Fawkia was a woman of many interests and passions. She had a genuine love for life that radiated through her interactions with others. Her dedication to her family and her pride in her daughters and grandchildren were among her proudest accomplishments. Fawkia leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
