Eva Jane Nantz, born on September 23, 1931, peacefully passed away on February 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication. Jane's life was richly woven with family and faith; she was a devoted wife to her late husband, North Eugene Nantz, with whom she shared a loving marriage from 1950 until his passing in 1997. Their bond was one of deep affection, formed in part during their time together at Merita Bakery, where they first met.
As a mother, Jane cherished her role, nurturing her son, Bruce Wayne Nantz, and sharing her life’s joys with him. Her warmth extended through the generations, embracing her granddaughter, Amber Lynn Nantz, and her great-grandchildren, Joshua Davis and Alixandra Davis. Jane’s impact on her family was profound, instilling values of kindness and love throughout her life.
Jane was not only a dedicated family member but also a pillar in her community. Known for her welcoming nature, she often invited family and neighbors over for home-cooked meals, embodying the spirit of hospitality. Her passion for culinary arts shone through her cooking, and she was particularly fond of enjoying vanilla ice cream and breakfast outings in town each morning.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A dedicated Christian, Jane lived her beliefs daily, showcasing kindness and a nonjudgmental attitude towards everyone she met. Known as an avid gardener, she found joy tending to her beloved rose bushes, reflecting the beauty she brought to those around her. Jane remained active throughout her life, enjoying daily walks in the park. You would often hear Jane talk about how much she loved Chicago, after having briefly lived there growing up while her father was training for a new job.
In addition to her husband, North, Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Hennriette Hogan; Stuart Hogan (brother); Gilbert Hogan (brother) of Mineral Wells, TX; Theadosia Ribet (sister) of Durham, NC; Marie Louise Cooke (sister) of Hildebran, NC; Yvonne Taylor (sister); and Susan Smith (sister) of Valdese, NC.
