Ernest Clayton Watts, Jr. "Buddy", 76, of Huntersville, NC passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Aldersgate - Asbury Care Center in Charlotte. Buddy was born on July 22, 1937 to the late Ernest Clayton Watts Sr. and Ruby Tanner Watts. Buddy served in the United States Navy and retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service. Before his diagnosis of dementia, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with Ann and their friends. He was very active in his West Gate Masonic Lodge #738 with the Gourmet Unit. Through his life, Buddy was involved with coaching youth sports and was supportive of his sons' activities. He served in various roles including head coach and Cub Master. Buddy was active in his church and especially enjoyed singing. His biggest dedication was to his wife, Ann, and Scott and Chris and their families; as well as his parents. Along with his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his bride, Ann, and his granddaughter, Bailey. He leaves to cherish his memory, sons; Scott (Sherri) Watts, Chris (Tonya) Watts, sister, Shirley Watts Shaw, grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Devan, Jordan, Jensen, Greyson, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00pm. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm on Thursday January 30, 2014 at Assurance United Methodist Church, Huntersville, NC with Rev. Chris Westmoreland officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. The family would like to thank Aldersgate, Cuthbertson Village and Asbury Care Center for their compassion and care given to Buddy over the last 5 years.
