Ernest Gilmore Peterson, Jr.

Ernest Gilmore Peterson, Jr., 89, of Concord, NC passed away November 30, 2017. Ernest was born April 10, 1928 in Great Falls, York County, SC to the late Ernest Gilmore Peterson, Sr., and Mattie Blackwell Peterson. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Missouri. He attended Furman University, Kings Business College and was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church and Long Creek Optimist Club.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Robinson Peterson; brother, William Russell Peterson and his wife Leona Aycoth Peterson.

Ernest is survived by his loving family; sons; Ernest Wayne Peterson and his wife Lynn Turner Peterson, Steven Michael Peterson and his wife Donna Wilson Peterson; grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson Pearson and her husband James Deon Pearson, Joshua Wayne Peterson and Stephanie Michelle Peterson; great-grandchild, Kylee Renee` Peterson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 1:30 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.
