Elizabeth Jane Romeo

Elizabeth Jane (BJ) Romeo, born on March 15 1945, in Berwick, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. BJ, a devoted homemaker, dedicated her life to nurturing her family and instilling in them the values of love, laughter, and resilience. She was especially known for her great sense of humor, which brought joy and comfort to those around her.

Throughout her life, BJ shared a cherished bond with her husband, Stephen A. Romeo, to whom she was married for 51 years until his passing. Together, they created a household filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. A notable memory of their life together was their ardent support for Villanova University athletics. BJ's playful spirit shone through when it was noted—mostly in jest—that she was not permitted to watch Villanova basketball. After attending a game in the 1960s, where the team suffered a loss, Stephen humorously suggested that she was "bad luck" for the team.

BJ's legacy continues through her surviving family members. She is mourned by her son, Lt. Col. Stephen J. Romeo, and his wife, Lenka; her daughter, Dr. Alicia A. Romeo; and her beloved grandsons, Marcus A. and Maximus J. Romeo, as well as her cherished grandpup, Bowie Stardust Romeo. In addition, she is survived by her nephew, Philip Romeo, niece, Christina Romeo, and her brother-in-law, Pat Romeo.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 1:30 pm at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC.  There will be an additional memorial mass and interment in Pennsylvania at a later date in the year.

Elizabeth Jane Romeo will be remembered for her unwavering love, her quick wit, and her profound impact on the lives of those she left behind. Her spirit and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
