Mr. Elbert Lee Watson, 82, of Charlotte died Thursday February 2, 1012 at Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte, NC. Born June 2, 1929 in Mecklenburg County he was a son of the late Furman C Watson and Mattie Hopkins Watson. He self employed residential contractor. Mr. Watson served the Lord his entire live. He was a charter member of Statesville Road Baptist Church and a charter member of Northdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 4 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bonnie Smith Watson, sons; Allen (Debbie) Watson, Bobby (Chona) Watson both of Mooresville, Billy (Denise) Watson of Rock Hill, Danny Watson of Charlotte; brother, James, Herman, Furman and Douglas Watson; sisters, Ruby Jackson and Sarah Cochrane; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Shafie, brother, Charles Watson and sister, Edith Melton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northdale Baptist Church, 8104 Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC 28269.
