GOULD, ELAINE (COOK), 88 - Helen "Elaine" (Cook) Gould of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away on September 25, 2013 at the Emeritus at Churchill. Elaine was born on February 24, 1925 in Marion Alabama to Thomas Edward and Sara Margaret (Arnold) Cook. She spent her formative years growing up on the family farm outside Marion. She went to live with her oldest sister in New Haven, Connecticut where she graduated from Hamden Hall Day School in 1943. Elaine worked for the General Electric Company. It was during this time in Connecticut that she met and married her husband, Francis P. Gould. As a devoted wife, she followed her husband's work to New York City, Rhode Island and Connecticut. After moving to Alabama in 1952, the family moved to Vienna, Virginia in 1959. It was here that Elaine discovered her love of banking. She began her banking career at the Bank of Vienna. Over the next 22 years, wherever the family lived, Elaine joined the local bank as a teller. She loved her work and always tried to serve her customers on a very personal basis. Elaine retired from C & S National Bank in 1983. In retirement, Elaine became active in the Smoke Rise Garden Club, assuming a number of leadership positions. The club's many projects kept her busy. She also loved to work in her yard. Elaine Gould leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years. He cared for her for many years as her Alzheimer's slowly took its toll. In 2011, Elaine moved to the Emeritus at Churchill in Mooresville, North Carolina. Also surviving are two sons - Kenneth P Gould (Shirley) of Clearwater Beach, FL and Douglas A Gould (Linda) of Mooresville, NC ; 5 grandchildren - K Chadwick Gould (Crystal) of Largo, FL, Ryan M. Gould (Claudia) of NYC, Jennifer R. Lisek (Chris) of Clearwater, FL, Sheryl M. Brass of Nashua, NH, and Bailey Rourk (Brian) of Concord, NC as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Spencer, Matthew and Bryan Lisek of Clearwater Fl, Ruby and Charlie Gould of NYC, Hudson and Landon Rourk of Concord, NC. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home,16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 on Saturday, September 28,2013 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friend 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
