EDWIN HUSS SHOAF, SR Mr. Shoaf, 90, of Huntersville, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from complications of chronic illness at The Laurels in Highland Creek. He was born December 31, 1921 in Charlotte, NC to Mary Isenhour Shoaf and Forney Huss Shoaf. He graduated from Charlotte Central High School in 1939 and then from NC State College in 1943 with a degree in electrical engineering. Entering the US Army, he rose to the rank of Captain in the Signal Corps. After serving in World War II, he joined Picker X-Ray Corporation and remained with that company in sales, service, and administration until retirement in 1985. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Alice Innes Shoaf. From this marriage, he is survived by three sons, Edwin Shoaf Jr. and his wife Anne of Charlotte, NC, Robert Shoaf and his wife Jackie of Anchorage, Alaska, and Stephen and his wife Carole, of Asheville, NC. Grandchildren include Amanda Vincent and her husband Jim of Gainesville, FL, Rebecca Shoaf and her husband, Joe Feehan, of Lexington Park, MD, David Shoaf of San Jose, CA, Ryan Shoaf of Burlington, NC, and Edwin Innes Shoaf of Anchorage, AK. Grandchildren include Coren Dale Vincent of Gainesville, FL. Children of Carole Shoaf include Seth Walker of Nashville, TN, Jennie Brunner, husband Jim and daughter, Claire of Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Shoaf is survived by his wife, Frances White Shoaf, and her children Allan White and his wife, Joyce, of Huntersville, NC, and Laura Anne Hite and her husband, Land, of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren include Laura Beth and Chad Hite of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Shoaf Williams, and her husband, John, along with their children and grandchildren, and the children and grandchildren of his late sister, Virginia Shoaf Wilson. He had many caregivers during the final times of his life and the family is grateful for their attention. Special thanks to his primary care physician, Dr. William Flannery, and to caregivers from The Laurels, Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman, and BrightStar.
