Edward Harry Post, 68, a lifetime resident of Milton, NY, passed away peacefully at The Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, North Carolina on December 25, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born on September 12, 1946 in Newburgh, NY, to his parents Harry Edward Post and Hazel Hope (Baxter) Post. Ed is survived by his brother, Robert Post and wife Kathleen of Huntersville, NC; an aunt, Mary Baxter of Marlboro, NY as well as several cousins; his nieces Jessica Post of Tucson, AZ; Rebecca Tew and husband James of Chesterfield, VA; and Christina Confroy and husband Mark of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by two great-nephews, Carter Tew and Mark Confroy III, all of whom he loved and adored. After graduating from Marlboro High School in 1964, Ed joined the Army during the Vietnam War only to be stationed in Germany for three years. He always loved to tell people that he took a course in German so he could "talk to the German girls." After his term with the Army Ed worked for the family business Walter Smith Welding Supplies in Kingston and Poughkeepsie. Ed was a member of the Marlboro-Milton Lions Club where he proudly held the honorary title of Lion Tamer until his passing. Ed's love for cars, especially Corvettes, is superseded only by his love for his family and friends. Those who knew and loved Ed will always remember him for his kind nature, generosity and unfailing sense of humor. Visitation will be held at The Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, 38 Main Street, Highland, NY on Friday, January 2, 2015 beginning at 10:00 am with a short Memorial Service at 11:30 am. Immediately after the service a Military Honors Burial will follow at The Highland Cemetery on Vineyard Avenue. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marlboro-Milton Lions Club are greatly appreciated. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
