Edna Mae Davis Nowlin of Johnson City, TN age 86 passed away Saturday Feb.25 2012. She was born in Appalachia, Va. on Sept. 23 1925 to the late Jim and Ocie Davis. Edna Mae retired from E.T.S.U in Johnson City TN. as secretary in the Sociology dept. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Buddy Nowlin; sister, Ruth Davidson and son-in-law, Connie Saylor. She is survived by her daughter and son, Shirley Saylor of Johnson City, Phillip Nowlin and his wife Connie of Huntersville, NC; two granddaughters, Tracy S. Leonard & husband Mike of Gate City, VA, Blake Nowlin of Huntersville, NC; Two grandsons, Tim Saylor and wife Sharon, Johnson City, TN, Drew Nowlin and wife Chelsea of Pineville, NC; three great grandchildren, Cody and Abby Leonard of Gate City, VA, Nowlin Saylor of Johnson City, TN; three sisters, Betty Howell and husband Ben of Bryson City, NC, Jeanette Cantrell and husband Ralph of Pound, VA, Kathleen Jackson Penland of Pound, VA; one brother, J.B. Davis Jr. and wife Vileda of Falls Church, VA and several nieces and nephews. Thank you to all her friends and neighbors for the kind help you gave during her sickness. A private family service will be conducted at a later date. "You loved the flowers and the ocean breeze, the warmth of the sun and the sound of the seas. You loved us each and everyone and made us feel special until your days were done. Your body was tired and needed to rest. We will remember your days of energy and zest.
