Edna Mae "Effie" Johnson Hamilton

Mrs. Edna Mae "Effie" Johnson Hamilton, 84,of Davidson, NC died Sunday March 8, 2015 at her residence. Born March 28, 1930 in New Castle, PA she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward Johnson and Sandra Ruhimaki Johnson. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1948 and was owner of Harbor Orthodontic Services. She was a member of Jameson Memorial Hospital Jr Guild, Friends of the New Castle Library, Lawrence County Garden Club and Library Volunteer at the Pines. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed bingo, knitted prayer shawls for her church and was an avid Davidson Wildcats and Steelers Fan. Effie was considered by all that knew her to be a woman of grace and elegance. She was a loving mother, grandmother and wife and had a true servants heart. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with a reception to follow at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Julie H. Skipper and husband Lee of Pittsford, NY; sons, Dr. David C. Hamilton and wife Angela of Hickory, Dr. Todd L. Hamilton and wife Betsy of Iron Station, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Hamilton and wife Emily, Megan, Phillip, Elyse and Christina Hamilton, Jesse and Nolan Sorrell, Christopher and Jason Skipper; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Hamilton, Eian and Hannah McManus. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David C. Hamilton, sister, Elizabeth Campbell and brother, Charles E. Johnson Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036, Lincoln County Hospice and Palliative Care, 900 Donita Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092 or Catawba County Hospice and Palliative Care, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
