Edith Margaret Tobin

Mrs. Edith Schweitzer Magee Tobin, 97, died Wednesday August 10, 2011 at The Pines in Davidson, NC. Born July 13, 1914 in New York City she was the daughter of the late Henry Edward Schweitzer and Ella Krus Schweitzer.

Mrs. Tobin retired after 30 years of service from the New York City Transit Authority as Administrative Manager of the Legal Department.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William J. Magee Sr. She is survived by their son William J. Magee and wife Margaret of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Carol, Lori and Elaine and 3 great grandchildren, Michael, Ryan and Kristen, and great-great granddaughter, Kaitlyn.

In November 1972 she married William F. Tobin, Esq. who predeceased her in May 1978. She is survived by her stepson, William J. Tobin and wife Judy of Falls Church, VA and 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 step nephews and nieces and 5 grand-step nephews and nieces.

Family and Friends are invited to a reception in her honor to offer their condolences to the family, on Saturday August 20 from 11:00 to 12:00 at The Pines, 400 Avinger Lane , Davidson , NC .

Burial will be conducted at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale NY .

A special thank you is extended to the nursing staff at the Pines for the excellent care given to Mrs. Tobin during her declining health.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis , TN 38105.
