Dwight Keel McKnight, Sr., 95, of Huntersville, North Carolina died January 18, 2023.
He was born in Georgetown SC, July 27, 1927 to the late Dwight Ezra McKnight and Etna Camlin McKnight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jane Skinner McKnight.
From South Carolina, Keel moved to Charlotte in 1967, then to Huntersville in 1989. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Keel had a long career in the automobile industry beginning as an auto mechanic and retiring as Regional Branch Manager of Sun Electric Corporation. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and making furniture and accessory pieces for his family and friends.
Keel is survived by his sons, Dwight K. McKnight, Jr. and wife Donna of Denver NC, Scott C. McKnight and wife Debbie of Choctaw, OK, and Jason W. McKnight of Charlotte; grandchildren, Hannah McKnight and husband Noah Gillie of Blacksburg, VA, Matthew McKnight and wife Amber of Fremont, CA, Whitney McKnight of Rosharon TX, Dwight McKnight, III and wife Jaci of Raleigh, NC, and Jocelyn McKnight of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Alice McKnight, Lysander McKnight, and Iona Gillie. Keel is also survived by his second love and companion, Dorothy Carley of Huntersville, NC.
