Dorsey Ray Locklear

Dorsey Ray Locklear, 83, of Charlotte, passed away on November 2, 2021. He was born in Pembroke on January 27, 1938, the son of the late Willie B. Locklear, Sr. and Effie Lee Jacobs Locklear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne Locklear; daughter, Patricia Anne Locklear; brothers, Harold Fay Locklear, Carey Locklear; half brother, Theodore Locklear; and half sister, Mary Ethel Bryant. Dorsey was a longtime member of Sunset Road Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He loved his church family and enjoyed his many mission trips. Dorsey never met a stranger, when you met him, you felt like you’d known him for a lifetime. He was dear friend to all.

Dorsey is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Kelly Locklear, Johnny Locklear and Lori Leaman-Fay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Argie Locklear, Willie B. Jr. and Rhoda Locklear, Mitchell and Patty Locklear, Chris and Kim Locklear; brother, Arnold Locklear; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Ronald Hunt; half sister, Melba Laue; grandchildren, Heather and husband Thomas, Sophia, Andrew, Arlyn, Taylor; and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, 2:00 P.M., at Sunset Road Baptist Church, 2317 Sunset Road, Charlotte, NC 28216, with Rev. Steve Bass and Rev. Dennis Benton officiating.
