Dorothy Louise Kwiatkowski 89, of Massapequa Park, N.Y. passed away on September 13, 2017 after a chronic illness. Dorothy recently relocated to Cornelius, NC. She became a resident at the Serenity House in Mooresville, NC through the Carolina Comfort Care Coalition.
Dorothy was born in Depford, England on Aril 5,1928 to the late Albert Henry Russell and Doris Allert Russell. Dorothy met her husband Bernard A. Kwiatkowski during WW11 when he was stationed in England while serving in the U.S. Navy. They dated during a tumultuous time, and were married on July 7, 1946 in Flushing, N.Y.
Dorothy was the most selfless and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would always lend an ear, or a shoulder to cry on and give advice when needed. Although she endured physical hardships due to her chronic health problems, she never complained or felt sorry for herself. She was a strong and faithful woman, and knew that God would help her overcome these bumps in the road. She was a wonderful example to all who knew her, and touched many lives.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Peter Russell.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bernard A. Kwiatkowski. Her children; Allen Kwiatkowski (wife Christine) Midlothian VA, Janet Rivers(husband Dan) Schenectady N.Y. ,David Kwiatkowski(wife Lisa) Cornelius, NC., Brian Kwiatkowski. Grandchildren; James Kwiatkowski(wife Christine), Rich Kwiatkowski, Kristina Kwiatkowski, Melissa Kwiatkowski, Marissa Hamila, Michael Hamila, Alexa Diffee(husband Paul), Taylor Kwiatkowski. Great grandchildren Darien Kwiatkowski and Regan Kwiatkowski and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, September 18, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, September 19, 2017, 11am at St Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Graveside services will follow at 2pm at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC 28144.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Carolina Comfort Care Coalition (110 Centre Church Rd. Mooresville, NC 28117). Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
