Doris Augusta Heisler Dolan

Doris Augusta Dolan, born on October 30, 1933, was a unique individual whose life became a vibrant tapestry of passion, creativity, and love. She departed this world on April 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

After earning her diploma at Millville Memorial High School in New Jersey, Doris attended the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York, where she cultivated her passion for fashion. This foundation led her to a successful career as a model, an endeavor that showcased her individual style and grace. While building her career as a model, Doris met her husband, William "Bill" Dolan.  The couple shared years of happiness as they navigated life together, living in various places, including New York, Middlebury, CT and Lubbock & Dallas, TX.  While living in Texas, Doris became certified as an esthetician, further enhancing her expertise in beauty and wellness.

Doris eventually returned to Middlebury, CT, where she opened her own salon, Image d' Augusta. This venture allowed her to share her knowledge and love for beauty with others.  In 2015, Doris moved in with her sister, Margaret Heisler Moyer, and her husband, Dennis, in Frankford, DE, before making her final move to Charlotte, NC in 2021.

Throughout her life, Doris held a deep appreciation for the arts. She loved fashion and old movies and spent countless hours reading about health and wellness. Soft jazz and the music of the 1940s filled her home, creating an atmosphere of warmth and nostalgia. A skilled seamstress, she often created her own clothes, a testament to her creative spirit and attention to detail.

Doris is survived by her dear sister, Margaret Heisler Moyer and husband Dennis; step-son David Dolan and his children; niece Alison Moyer Gray, her husband Gary, and their children; as well as an aunt and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Ephraim Heisler; mother, Helen Thomas Sherry; and husband, William Steven Dolan.

A memorial service to honor Doris will be held on May 10, 2025, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, starting at 11:00 AM. 

Doris Augusta Dolan's life was one of beauty, resilience, and an unwavering spirit. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
