Doris Arlene Custer-Guth 95, peacefully left this world and entered Heaven on November 10, 2019. She was devoted to her family and serving the Lord and was loved by all who knew her around the world.
Doris was born to the late Forest and Pauline Snure, a dairy farmer and a homemaker respectively, in Wooster, Ohio on November 3rd, 1924. She graduated from Biola University, a Christian university in the heart of Southern California providing biblically centered education.
Doris was a remarkable woman who lived a life serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She met her husband James Custer at Biola University who became an ordained minister. Shortly after graduating Biola University they followed the Lord’s calling and went to Nigeria, West Africa with Sudan Interior Mission (SIM). She spent 19 of her 30+ years as a missionary helping others and serving Christ.
Doris was a servant at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to listen and always offered a kind and encouraging word. She is dearly missed by her loved ones and we rejoice that she is now filled with joy with her creator in heaven.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Cathryn Hocking, and by her son, Richard Custer; along with his wife Florence. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Snure; along with his wife Carol. She is preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Pauline Snure; her husband, Rev. James Custer, her sister, Janet; and her granddaughters, Karli and Kelsey Richardson.
