Donna Lee Sherma Brown

Donna Lee Brown, 58, of Cornelius, NC and previously Coppell, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2012. She was born February 18, 1954 in Oceanside, California the daughter of Marge Sherma and the late Sam Sherma. Surviving are her husband, Kevin Brown; son, Ken and wife Janine; daughter, Pam; granddaughter, Merrilee; brother, Joe Sherma and wife Elaine; sister, Kathy Blee and husband Frank; sister and brother in law Debra and Bill Kienke; along with 9 very favorite nieces and nephews. Donna never met a person that didn't become a friend and there are numerous family friends as well. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:30-8:30 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home at 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning, March 30, 2912 at 10:00 AM. Donna was the most courageous, spirited, inspiring and fun loving person. She was devoted to her family and friends. Donna treasured time at home, at the beach or on one of the many trips with family and friends. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching Ken and Pam compete and never missed a game. The family would like to thank the staff at Duke University Hospital and especially the staff at Duke Adult Bone Morrow Transplant Clinic, including Dr. David Rizzieri, Dr. Mark Lanasa and Therese Hennig. In addition, thanks go to the staff at Carolina Medical Center and especially Carolina Oncology & Hematology, including Dr. Steven Limentani and all the wonderful people we have come in contact with over the years during Donna's fight. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Donna Brown to the Duke Cancer Institute to support the research of Dr. David Rizzieri and Dr. Mark Lanasa. Our hope is to continue the fight to find remedies for this terrible disease.
