Donald Lee Wilson

Donald Lee Wilson, 76, of Denver, North Carolina went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 23, 2019. He was born on July 18, 1943 to Carl R. and Mozelle (Cloninger) Wilson in Moore County, North Carolina. On August 12, 1962, he married Mildred Elizabeth (Libby) Laton in Ellerbe, North Carolina.

Don is survived by his wife Libby, sister Carol Sasser, sons Bryon (Lisa), David, and Steven (Bill Turnage), grandchildren Lauren (James) Fitzgerald, Garrett, Ella, Addison, and Emelia, and great-grandson Liam Fitzgerald, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

Don began his professional career as owner of Wilson’s Big Oak Supermarket in Ellerbe, North Carolina. Later, he worked with several chain grocery retailers before moving into the food broker business from which he retired. He enjoyed taking long scenic drives, especially through the North Carolina Smoky Mountains, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His biggest passion was sharing his faith and testimony with everyone. Throughout his adult life, he served as a deacon for several churches which enabled him to support church members and personally share Jesus’ love. Even through his illness, he never lost an opportunity to pray with family, nurses, other patients, and anyone else he came in contact with.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home at 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, North Carolina on Saturday, November 2, 2019. A celebration of Don’s life will follow immediately at 2:00pm in the Raymer-Kepner Chapel.
