Donald Lee Collins

Donald Lee Collins, 74, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 4th, 2025.

Donald was born in Greensboro, NC, on June 1, 1950, to the late Floyd Collins and Lena May Collins. After graduating from Garinger High School in 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia, on July 2, 1971, and was a loyal and loving husband to her for the rest of his life.

Donald was a highly skilled auto/truck body worker and painter, starting his career at GMC in 1973 before starting a business, D & D Trucking, in 1983, and later working for Freightliner from 1987 until his retirement in 2012. When he wasn’t working, he was an avid hunter and loved being in the woods. He took his family camping and on trips to the beach. He taught his sons the value of hard work and pride in a job well done.

Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia Brown Collins; his children Michael Shad Collins and wife Sue, Shay Avery Collins and wife Sharon; grandchildren Ian Jameson, Sophia Collins, Aiden Collins, Jessica Gibson, Anna Gibson, and Allie Gibson; great-grandchildren Avery Gibson, Delilah Alfonso, and Talia Shelton; and his sister Brenda Collins Stewart.

According to Donald’s wishes, no visitation or memorial service will be held.
