Dianne Arnette York, 70, of Huntersville, passed away at her home on January 1, 2017. Born April 15, 1946 in Washington D.C. she was the daughter of the late Dr. Clarence E. Arnette and Zella L. Arnette. Dianne worked as a Human Resources Director for Booz Allen and Hamilton Consulting Firm for 20 years.
Dianne is survived by her husband James A. York; daughter, Amanda Y. Bailey and husband Norwood; son, Mark S. York and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Leigh A. Bailey; grandson, Norwood P. Bailey; granddaughter, Caroline C. York; brother, Larry E. Arnette; niece, Samantha J. Arnette; and her best buddy Murphy.
Dianne grew up in Alexandria, VA where she played field hockey at Groveton High school. She graduated from East Carolina University in 1968 where she met her husband James and was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Dianne and James moved to Virginia Beach, VA where they started their family. In 1981 they moved to Northern Virginia where Dianne started her 20 year career with Booz Allen and Hamilton Consulting Firm. After retirement she and her husband moved to the Huntersville area in 2006. She loved family beach trips each summer while raising her children. She thoroughly enjoyed playing golf at the North Stone Country Club with dear friends. She was fulfilled by her disciple group at church. She was a Stephen Minister at Davidson United Methodist Church and an active member at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Dianne’s character can be described as a very Loving, Nurturing, Creative/Artistic, Self-Confident, Strong, Independent women who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Friday January 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion UMC in Cornelius. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service from 10-11.
