A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078.

Detlef had a very long career of over 50 years with Truetzschler starting first in Germany at the age 14 and working in multiple positions in the company before retiring as a Vice President of American Truetzschler, Inc.

When Detlef was not at work, you could generally find him outdoors. He particularly loved deer hunting and enjoying countless hours in his yards over the years making them each into gardens of Eden that anyone would appreciate.

Anyone who knew Detlef well would certainly tell you that, above all else, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As each new child joined the family, their “Papa,” (later “Opa”) would shower them with affection which built a strong foundation, blessing them for a lifetime. He represented well the unconditional love of Christ and adored each of them immensely; they all knew how fully they were loved.

Speaking of that, in Lieu of Flowers, Detlef would have appreciated your consideration of donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital since he had such a fondness of children, and they brought him immense joy. We feel he would want to contribute in any small way to their well-being. You can donate online here: Online Donations - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or by mail to: Printable Donation Form

Detlef will be missed beyond our ability to express.
