Della Mae Myers Rickard, born on December 26, 1933, in Fray, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in Huntersville, North Carolina. She lived a life that radiated love and joy, characterized by her outgoing spirit and generous heart. Della was a devoted member of her family, demonstrating a fierce protectiveness over her loved ones that was felt by all who knew her.
Her life was rich with memories, particularly those cherished moments spent laughing and sharing time with family, especially during shopping excursions that became sources of joy and bonding. Della had a vibrant personality, always bringing warmth and humor into the lives of those around her.
Throughout her lifetime, Della held a special place in her heart for the St. Louis Cardinals, passionately supporting her team with unwavering loyalty. She lived in Missouri for the majority of her life, creating a tapestry of friendships and family connections that would last a lifetime.
She is survived by her son, Steve Rickard; brother, Lee Myers; her daughter-in-law, Karen Rickard; her son-in-law, Henry Bornhauser; and a multitude of grandchildren including Donnie Bornhauser and his wife Suzy, Michelle McFadden and her husband Mike, Scott Rickard and his wife, Shannon Leslie and her husband Chris, Rachel Shryock and her husband Jamie, Marcus Bornhauser, Whitney Rickard, as well as numerous great grandchildren: Gwendolyn, John Michael, Logan, Jacob, Megan, Landon, Briston, Mikayla, Gavin, Aidan, Amelia, and Addison. Their lives were all enriched by her love and guidance.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Nora McCoy Myers; her daughter, Debi Bornhauser; her son, Michael Rickard; sister-in-law Dolores Myers; along with her grandchild, Kelsey Rickard.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 3:00 PM at Mt Zion Community Cemetery, located in Cornelius, North Carolina. Friends and family are invited to join together in honoring the remarkable life of Della M. Rickard, whose legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
