David Edmund Carpenter, 76, of Huntersville, NC formerly of Washington, PA, died in his home on Saturday, March 26, 2011. He was born on February 15, 1935 to the late Norman M. and Dorothy I. Carpenter. David attended Washington High School and served in the United States Army from 1953-1960. He was employed by Federal paper Board and later by Volkswagon of America in New Stanton, PA. After his retirement, he moved to Charlotte where he worked as a security guard at Beacon Hill Apartments. He was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church in Greensburg, PA. David was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed working outdoors and attending sports events. In addition to his parents David was predeceased by a son, Douglas Carpenter and a sister, Dorothy Carpenter Yater. He is survived by his children; Daniel Carpenter of Erie, PA; David Carpenter of Washington, PA; Todd Carpenter and wife Kelly of Huntersville, Mindy Decker and husband Guy of Charlotte and Chad Carpenter of Mooresville; grandchildren, Cameron and Dawson Carpenter, Jack, Grace, Sam and Charlie Decker. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6-8pm at Raymer Funeral Home, located at 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00am at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery, located at 19600 Zion Street, Cornelius, NC.
