David Wayne Benner

August 2, 1974 — October 31, 2021

David Benner, 47, passed on October 31, 2021 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He was born in Norristown, PA, the third son of Barbara and John Benner, Sr. David is a graduate of the Norristown Area High School and ECPI University with his degree in Medical Assistance.

He turned away from a career in golf course maintenance and management in 2008 to restructure his life by attending ECPI and devoting his remaining years to the field of healthcare. Graduating from ECPI with honors, he was then employed by Paragon Surgical Specialist from 2010 to 2019 where he found himself an endeavor which rendered both success and satisfaction.

Son, Dominic delivered inspiration to keep going until Dave had literally nothing left. Dominic has been a source of joy and pride for Dave since his birth in 2005.

David is also survived by his dearest love and companion Nicole Rothar-Ramos who remained by his side through his more than two and one half years of tortuous effort spent fighting his ailment. Her dedication and boundless love gave Dave the reason to continue his battle when weaker individuals would have given in.

Also surviving are mother, Barbara Benner; father, John Benner, Sr.; brother, John Benner, Jr.; sister-in-law, Tara; brother, Tim; and sister-in-law, Nicole all who brought unlimited support and encouragement during very difficult circumstances.

Dave’s first loves were Dominic and Nicole followed closely by “The Ocean”. Happiest when holding a long pole with a large fish attached, he had a knack for landing massive sea creatures when companions went ‘fishless’. A much favored fellow angler, namesake and Godfather Wayne Griffing taught him primary lessons regarding the art of fishing and of life. In more than forty years spent together in salty water, they share a bond which shall remain unbroken.

There will be no replacement for our son. He possessed a gift for making friends. His warm infectious grin and well trusted demeanor were characteristics rarely seen these days.

No longer will there be a big green truck rumbling down an endless beach with a well tanned smiling man at the wheel.

He shall be missed, always…..

The family would like to thank Dr. Brittany Ragon, and the caring nurses and doctors of the Levine Cancer Center and the MD Anderson Cancer Center for their valiant effort to save our son. Memorial services have yet to be scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org .
