Dale Neal Summer, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 5th, 2023.
Dale was born on April 14, 1956, in Washtenaw, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Neal Summer, Geraldine Van Aken, and brother Dean.
Dale had a happy childhood and excelled in all sports. He was brought up in the church, was steadfast in his commitment to the Lord, and shared his faith with everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Kathy, dear sister Shirley, beloved brother David, son-in-law Dennis, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.
His two grandchildren, Brendan and Katherine, were his special pride and joy. They had many good times with their “Papa” or “King Dale” from the time they were small babies to now as teenagers. He played with them, guided them, and loved them with all his heart.
Dale also leaves behind many friends from far and wide with whom he always stayed in touch. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A more positive, happy, and upbeat person could not be found, and his big smile lit up a room. He was loved by all.
As a young man Dale moved to Vero Beach, FL where he worked in the golf business. He was a great golfer himself. He hit four Holes-In-One and could call his own Fade or Draw. After each of his swings he’d smile, wink and leave all who were watching in total awe.
Dale also was a huge Michigan fan - Wolverines, Tigers, Lions - Motown through and through.
In 2004 he and his wife moved to Davidson, NC to be near her family. They were self-employed recruiters working in the fire protection industry.
For the past few years, Dale suffered from some serious health issues but throughout those very trying times he maintained a positive attitude, always lifting the spirits of those around him. Although he will be sorely missed, Dale is at peace now in Heaven.
A memorial service celebrating Dale’s life will be held at 1PM on March 25th 20,2023, in the chapel at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
