Claire Ann Landay, 85, of Cornelius, North Carolina passed away November 7, 2021.
Fine food, high fashion , meaningful quotes, and classic movies were just a few of her favorite things, and she made sure to incorporate all four in her day to day life.
She loved sharing quotes that she read or heard during her purposeful encounters that she made with everyone she came in contact with. She was determined that every conversation was unique, and that the other person left the conversation knowing that she felt they were important.
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and in her later years had the privilege to live in places like Maine (her favorite), New York, and lastly North Carolina surrounded by her loved ones. She cherished Maine the most and she made it a point to let everyone know that she considers herself a “Mainer”.
Her highlight reel includes-rubbing elbows with multiple celebrities, acting lessons at Pasadena Playhouse, being a devoted wife to her late husband Harry Landay, and the best mother to her two children, Tip and Fran Landay. She also dabbled in restaurant management (in California) where she carried on the family business and later worked with her nephew in his general store in Maine where she made plenty more permanent influences on people.
She always loved to leave her conversations with a lesson, and in order to do that she went through her life grasping every word, taking things one step at a time, and truly enjoying and seizing every present moment. She will be missed by her children, her grandchildren Aubrey Wilson, Lauren Landay, Bryan Charles, and Victoria Charles, and her nephew Jardy Forsyth. And of course by all who she left an everlasting impression on. Whether you knew her as Mom, Mama, Grandma, or Claire, you knew that your moments with her would be exclusive, full of learning and listening, and some of the most meaningful interactions you’d experience in your lifetime.
The Landay family is under the care of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.kepnerfh.com.
