Christopher Edward Huffman, 43, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on October 21, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Chris was born on August 5, 1980 to June(Smith) and Gregory Huffman in Charlotte, NC. Chris learned to ski as a young boy in Boone, NC. He fell in love with fishing, the ocean, and all things boating while living as a young boy in Florida. Through his teenage years while living in Tennessee, Chris developed a love for the mountains from rock hopping, hiking, camping, and four-wheeling in his 1972 Scout II. After Chris graduated from McCallie in 1999, he went on to earn a Bachelor and Master's degree at University of North Carolina Wilmington.
In 1999, Chris met Sabrina(Shaver) at UNCW. Chris and Sabrina moved to the Charlotte area in 2005 following their wedding. They went on to have two children, Madison and Elias. Chris always had a smile on his face and could make you laugh no matter if you were the closest of friends and family or if he just met you. His laugh was infectious and would easily brighten the room.
One of Chris' biggest enjoyments was to share an experience with others. Chris and his family would go camping in the Fall and Spring, skiing in the Winter, and all things boating throughout the year. They would often go on adventures, traveling throughout the United States and the world with friends and family. Chris found peace and enjoyment camping in the middle of the woods, deep sea fishing, boat rides at sunrise, skiing at "rope drop" on fresh corduroy, or sitting on the boat at sunset.
Chris is survived by his wife Sabrina; children, Madison and Elias; his father, Gregory Huffman (Diane Huffman); his mother, June Smith Huffman (Beth Griffin); his brother, Chad Huffman (Amy Skaggs); his grandmother, Winifred Huffman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Stanley Huffman; his maternal grandparents, Boyce and Helen Smith.
Chris was a beautiful person inside and out, and his smile would light up the whole room. Chris lived life to the fullest, and now he is sailing on a journey to shores that we cannot see.
A private service for immediate family was held on October 26, 2023. In true Chris fashion, he wanted a party with friends and family laughing and sharing a beer. The Celebration of Life party will be held on November 12, 2023 from 1-5pm at Lakeside Staples at Lake Norman. A casual outdoor party with food, drink, laughter, love, music, and games. If you would like to stop by for a drink and to share stories, please visit www.pageforchris.com for the RSVP link.
