Cheryl Ann Wright

Cheryl Ann Dunlap Wright, Sherry, 68 of Charlotte passed into God’s loving hands on August 19, 2017. Cheryl was born in Chicago on February 11, 1949 to the late William J and Ruth Dunlap. She was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High class of ’67 and a graduate of Alverson Draughon Business College

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a military spouse. She loved military life and took great joy in helping out younger soldiers and their families adjust to military life. Many of them called her mom. She especially liked the holidays and getting together with friends and family.

Cheryl loved to travel and especially loved to travel with her GWRRA motorcycling family. Mention a trip to the beach, mountains or cross country and she was ready to go. Unfortunately, the last few years brought failing health and travel was not easy for her. No matter how bad she felt she always fought back with grace, dignity, a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Tom, daughter Jennifer Wright-Dunham (Jon), grandson Jacob, sisters Linda Schadler (Fred), and Susan Forbes (Harold), and brother Jeff Dunlap (Becky).

She loved kids, animals and the military. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation or Folds of Honor.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7 PM at Sunset Road Baptist Church, 2317 Sunset Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216 with Rev. Steve Bass officiating.
