Mr. Charles Richard Sutton, 82, of Cornelius, NC passed away on April 24th, 2019 at his residence. He was born April 19th, 1937 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Callie Mae Sutton and George R. Sutton. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with degrees in Civil and Mechanical Engineering in 1962 and 1964, then worked in Charlotte with J. N. Pease Associates, an architect engineering firm. In 1974 he accepted a position with the TVA, an electrical power producer involved in the mechanical design of nuclear power plants in the southeast.
In 1985 Charles moved to the Lake Norman area near Cornelius and worked in Charlotte with Mecklenburg County Building Standards until his retirement in 1995; however, he continued to work part-time until 2009.
He enjoyed working in his yard and garden and was an avid student of the financial markets, which became his life-long hobby.
Mr. Sutton was a former member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Huntersville where he served as Deacon, Church Treasurer and Adult Sunday School Teacher.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 29th, 2019 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Huntersville. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mr. Zion Cemetery Fund.
