Charles Strickland

Charles Strickland, 79 of Charlotte, NC passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 at his residence. Charles was born May 9, 1934 in Selma, NC to the late Frank and Lou Vera Ballard Strickland. On October 18, 1967 he married his wife, the late Mary E. Strickland. Charles was the owner of the Strickland Waterproofing Company that he founded in 1986. The company now holds unlimited general contractor licenses in seven different states. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, clearing land and buying real estate. He was an animal lover and avid farmer. He also enjoyed clearing land and tending to his tree farms in Kershaw County, SC. He was a faithful member of his church and loved to minister to people everywhere he went. Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his loving family; son, Randy C. Strickland and his wife Lavonne; daughters, Elizabeth Anne Strickland, Ronda Strickland Santiago and her husband Raymond; grandchildren, Tristan R.C. Strickland, Austin F-H Strickland, Jodi B. Mileto, Amber D. Strickland, Angela M. Caruso, Dustin L. Smith, Destiny E. Grier; brothers, Clyde Strickland, Doug Strickland; sister, Esther Lucas; very close friend James Hunt. Along with his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his brother Armie Strickland and brother in law Buddy O'Mary and sister, Flonnie Paige. Special thanks to Paulette Withrow, Janet Strickland Keel, Elizabeth Anne Strickland and Community Home Care and Hospice, for providing Charles with special help and care. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday March 16, 2014 at the Truth Temple with Pastors Bryn Waddell, Garland Faw and Gary Posey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a visitation on Saturday March 15, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. Interment will follow the service on Sunday at Northlake Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles name to the Truth Temple 2705 Moose Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
